Addressing Large Hadron Collider Challenges by Machine Learning

Since we seem to be in the same level (I'm third year engineering) my advice is to learn on need to know basis. You seem to have a good background on math and stats maybe you want to look learn ML and DL since you can do interesting projects with it (if coding is something you enjoy). This course combines particle physics and machine learning and it's free if you have student email address.

Did this one ~1 year ago. I found it interesting and quitehard. Not perfect tho.

On a related note, I was browsing and saw that Coursera will have a course about applying machine learning to the LHC next year in March. I can't vouch for the quality of the course because I haven't taken it.
